What is Magpie Maths?

Magpie Maths is an online, fully remote maths education program designed for Australian primary school students. It focuses on the revision of topics learned in school by synthesising mathematical concepts into word problems.

Who is it best for?

The current difficulty of questions targets students between years 3 - 6, but younger students (K-2) who want a challenge are more than welcome to try it out! Have a look at the Example Week to see the difficulty.

How does it work each week?

Each week, you as the parent will receive an email from me (Phil) with a link to this week’s questions. Your child can view the questions and solutions on that link.

The current price is just $80 / month per family!

What is your refund policy?

While there’s no refund policy, you can cancel anytime by clicking the ‘Billing Settings’ link in your weekly email.

Content and curriculum

What topics are covered?

The aim of Magpie Maths is to cover the majority of the Year 3 - 6 curriculum, multiple times over, throughout the year. The reason it’s the ‘majority’ as opposed to ‘all’, is because there are a few topics that don’t really work in the ‘word problem’ format.

Do you provide solutions or videos?

Yes, every question is accompanied by a video solution created by myself each week. In these videos, I don’t just show what the answer is - instead, I explain why I worked through the problem the way I did, breaking it down into easy-to-understand steps that can be repeated by the students.
